Marcus Giamatti

Marcus Giamatti is a 35-year career working actor, with an MFA in Acting from the Yale School of Drama, where he received the Carole Dye Award for Excellence in Performance. Marcus is best known for the role of Peter Gray on the long running CBS Drama Judging Amy. Marcus has also appeared on Television in over 100 guest star roles, recurring and series regular roles. He has worked in over a dozen feature films, as well as Soaps, National Commercials and Voice Overs. Marcus’ extensive Theatre work includes Lincoln Center, On-Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in Regional Theatre across the country, from The Seattle Rep to The Guthrie, to Long Wharf, including  5 seasons at The Eugene O’Neil National Playwright’s Conference. Currently, Marcus is the Head of the MFA and Undergraduate Directing Programs at Temple University, restructuring, devising, and implementing all curriculum. Marcus is also an Associate Professor of Acting and Directing and the Area Head for Acting for the Camera. At Temple Marcus created The Bridge, a databased website to inspire more Interdisciplinary collaborative work between students at the Film School and students from the Theatre School. Marcus also served as a Professor in the BFA Contemporary and Musical Theatre Programs at Boston Conservatory at The Berklee College of Music, primarily teaching courses in Acting for the Camera, Self-Tape Technique and Audition Technique for the Camera. Marcus previously ran his own acting studio in Los Angeles and taught at NYCDA (New York Conservatory for Dramatic Art) and at the University of California at Santa Barbara, in both the BFA Theatre Program and The UCSB Film and Media Arts School. Marcus was the Director of Education at The Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara, California where he created all original Outreach Programming, including founding The ETC Young Playwright’s Festival, Adopt-a-School and The Young Actor’s Conservatory, a craft-based summer theatre intensive for rising high school students. Marcus recently received the URTA 2023-2024 Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training in Acting for his work at Temple University.
